Jim J. Brewer

Jim J. Brewer has lived in Amarillo all his life and is a West Texas A&M University graduate. He considers his education an important foundation for his lifelong career as a geologist. Brewer is a Buffalo Council Founder who believes in the power of WTAMU to transform the communities of Canyon and Amarillo as dramatically as it transforms the lives of individual students.

Brewer is President of J-Brex Company and was also co-founder of EnergyNet, an online oil and gas auction site. He serves on numerous boards including those of FirstCapital Bank of Texas, West Texas A&M University Foundation, Friends of Southwestern Art, and Downtown Amarillo Inc.

As a business owner based in downtown Amarillo, Brewer is especially optimistic about the new WTAMU Amarillo Center under construction at the 700 block of South Tyler. He believes that the influx of new students there will coincide well with other development projects aimed toward making downtown Amarillo a destination for new residents, cultural events, and entertainment.

Brewer is also committed to helping the Buffalo Council fulfill its mission by creating scholarships that will create new opportunities for deserving students who might not otherwise be able to attend. He says: “Providing the means for first generation college students to complete their education not only benefits the student, but also our entire community.”
