Michael L. Bain

Michael Bain is a West Texas A&M University alumnus who has served the university in many ways, including his positions on the boards of WTAMU’s foundation and Main Street Canyon. He’s an active member of the Canyon Future Farmers of America Booster Club, the Randall County 4H Boosters and Old Main Society.

Bain has had a direct impact on the lives of WTAMU students through the scholarships provided by First United Bank which he joined in 1992. From hundreds of “a very talented, diverse group” of applicants, First United awards academic scholarships to select outstanding students each year. Bain spoke for himself as well as the bank when he said of the scholarships, “We are honored to be able to exercise our civic duty by giving back to the University, its students and the region.”

Bain is president and CEO of Plains Bancorp, the holding company for First United Bank. He joined the bank in 1993 and has more than 20 years of banking experience in West Texas. Before joining First United Bank he was employed with the Texas Department of Banking from 1989 to 1992.

Bain’s continued commitment to and enthusiasm for his alma mater is evidence in his willingness to serve as a Buffalo Council Founder.
