The Buffalo Council is dedicated to creating scholarships for West Texas A&M students. Contributions to the Glen Parkey Scholarship are now being accepted.
GLEN PARKEY SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship in honor of Glen Parkey was especially fitting given his outstanding support of WTAMU. In 1998, he served as the president of the WTAMU Foundation Board, and in the early 2000s, Parkey chaired a drive that raised $2 million for scholarships for the school. He was honored as a WTAMU Distinguished Alumnus in 1994 and was inducted into the WTAMU School of Business Hall of Fame in 1998. He was also instrumental in helping establish the university’s engineering program.
Glen Parkey, a distinguished graduate of West Texas State University, now WTAMU, demonstrated leadership in every aspect of his life. As a developer, civic leader, fundraiser, and Amarillo mayor, he shaped the economic success of both Amarillo and West Texas A&M University. In his personal life, his devotion to family and friends earned him the loyal respect and admiration of all who knew him.
A native of Floydada, Parkey attended West Texas State University on the G.I. Bill after serving in the army. Besides devoting time to his family, volunteerism, and philanthropy, he was also the founder of Sterling Properties. Future students will be fortunate to receive a scholarship honoring a man with Parkey’s vision and integrity. The Buffalo Council invited contributions to this scholarship fund.
To qualify for this scholarship, WTAMU students must be a part of the Rodger Lead WT program.
